---- — Money for a study that will list the value of Boone County's government-owned assets, including buildings, roads and equipment, could be sought from the county council next month.
It's been seven years since an inventory of the county's assets was done, Auditor Deanna Wilhoite and Michael Nielsen of Government Fixed Asset Services told the Boone County Commissioners on Dec. 16.
"There needs to be an accounting of these assets," Nielsen -- who is not related to Boone County Sheriff Chief Deputy Mike Nielsen -- said. "There are issues; this needs to be taken care of."
Commissioner Marc Applegate was more than skeptical of the process.
