---- — The Boone County Election Board has postponed a meeting it was to have held Jan. 2. The panel was to have considered whether to adopt a resolution that would consolidate the county’s 22 voting locations into eight “vote centers.”That vote, however, must be unanimous.
Jim Whelan, the Boone County Democratic Party member of the board, asked for the delay so he could attend the funeral for former Congressman Andy Jacobs Jr.“Due to the seriousness of the issue on vote centers, I do not plan to appoint a proxy,” Whelan said in an email. “I feel that honoring the memory of Congressman Jacobs must take priority.”The board also includes County Clerk Penny Bogan and Zionsville resident Tom Easterday, the Boone Republican Party representative.
Bogan said she would reschedule the meeting after speaking with Easterday.
If approved, the vote centers would be at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds in Lebanon; Boone County Senior Services, Inc., Lebanon; Elizaville Christian Church, Elizaville; the Zionsville Town Hall and Zionsville Presbyterian Church; Traders Point Christian Church, Whitestown; the Thorntown Public Library; and the Advance Christian Church in Advance.
