---- — It could take up to two weeks before investigators determine the cause of a Sunday, March 16, crash that killed two Boone County teenagers. Jacob Shockley, 18, Advance, and Richard Penny Jr., 18, Lebanon, were pronounced dead at the scene after authorities found the wreckage of a 1993 Honda Civic near the 1700 block of CR 800 N, said Boone County Sheriff Cpl. Chris Burcham. Shockley, a senior at Western Boone High School, was driving the car, investigators determined; Penny graduated from Western Boone in 2013. A Fatal Alcohol Crash Team unit is investigating the accident, Burcham said. A press conference with additional information about the accident was to be held Monday, March 17, Burcham said. The car, which was going west, hit a tree head-on; the vehicle’s speed is one factor investigators are attempting to determine, Burcham said. See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
