LEBANON -- Though attendance was not as high as Lebanon Parks Director John Messenger was expecting, he said the opening of the new city pool went off without a hitch.
Nearly 400 people came through the doors Saturday, June 21, Messenger said, which was a good number since capacity is 415. They didn't have to turn anyone away.
The opening was not advertised because the date kept changing, he added. But they were able to keep the opening day on the first official day of summer.
"I think the word will spread now," Messenger said. "I am absolutely happy with how it turned out. Everything went very, very smoothly."
Adults and children alike enjoyed the shallow-water, beach-entry pool with children's water features, including a large bucket of water that fills until it tips, pouring over onto those standing below. The two three-story water slides, lazy river and lily pad obstacle were also constantly busy.
