Asphalt plant limbo could cause problems for county

Lebanon — Paving in Boone County could become “iffy” due to a Whitestown asphalt plant not opening on time this summer.

Rick Carney, Boone County Highway Department superintendent, told the Boone County Commissioners Monday morning, April 15, that Milestone was not planning on reopening Plant 10 in Whitestown after closing the doors in the fall.

Todd Reismann, a representative with Milestone, said the plant will be open on an as-needed basis.

“We do not have much work out of (the Whitestown) plant,” he said. “I am currently working with the local cities and counties in the area to see what their needs are so we can take care of their needs.”

Carney said “paving may be a little iffy” if the plant does not open.
