Democrat John D. Hamilton and Republican John Hume will face off in the November general election for the Boone County Council District 2 seat. Incumbent Republican Walter "Butch" Smith did not seek re-election.
Both men said the size of the district -- an "L" shape that sweeps from Jamestown to Thorntown, and east to the Boone-Hamilton County line -- will be a challenge in the fall.
"I think it just means with such a large area we're going to have to get out there and get involved with all the different areas," Hamilton said in a telephone interview, "especially with us being from the west side of Boone County." Hamilton lives in Jamestown, Hume in rural New Ross.
