Two new dump trucks and a new road grader will be added to the Boone County Highway Department's fleet.
But not yet.
Tuesday, May 13, the Boone County Council rejected highway Superintendent Rick Carney's request to spend $300,000 for the trucks and another $300,000 for the road grader, with no one advancing a motion to approve or deny the proposal.
One of the department's road graders is effectively inoperable, Carney said, because it is nearing the point where repairs to it are not worthwhile. The two dump trucks are part of a replacement plan.
"I do not hear a motion," council President Steve Jacob said after calling for a vote on the requests. "That doesn't mean you won't get them."
