— A State Board of Accounts audit has again found shortages and errors in the Town of Advance’s books.
The town failed to meet its own ordinances for fire hydrant and street light rentals, while a former town clerk/treasurer was ordered to repay the town $736.10.
The audit covered spending from Jan. 1, 2010, to Dec. 31, 2011; while it was completed on June 18, the information was not released by the State Board of Accounts until Sept. 12.
