Barn quilt trail extends to Whitestown

Whitestown is now home to a new barn quilt, part of Boone County’s barn quilt trail, at the home of Walter Maxson, 5786 East County Road 500 South.

The quilt is a Carpenter’s Wheel pattern, to signify all of the construction work done to update the barn. The wooden quilt was completed and hung on Sept. 15.

This is just the latest addition to the Boone County Barn Quilt Trail, which now boasts 25 quilts hung on barns all around the county, said Melissa Imbus of the Thorntown Heritage Museum. And there are three more orders in line.

“This trail is not necessarily ever going to be complete,” Imbus said. “It’s something we will continue to add to.”
