Police investigate death of man found on roadside

Lebanon — Results of an autopsy performed Monday, Aug. 5, could help police determine whether a Frankfort man whose body was found in Boone County died accidentally or was killed.

Neal Iddings, 63, 5342 S CR 150 W, Frankfort, was found along a road near the intersection of Indiana 47 and Ind. 39 about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, by his wife, according to police records.

It was unknown whether Iddings sustained his injuries because of a medically-related issue, was struck by a vehicle or was attacked. The autopsy could give investigators more information.

Iddings and his wife were at the Draught Board, 528 Lafayette Ave., Lebanon, Saturday night, Burcham said.

Iddings was taken to the emergency room at Witham Hospital, and then airlifted to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, where he died during surgery for head injuries.

“As there is limited information available, our investigators are treating this with great attention,” Sheriff Ken Campbell said in an email.

Anyone who was with Iddings or has information about his last hours Saturday or Sunday is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 765-482-1412. Tips may be emailed to tips@co.boone.in.us.
