Reducing the Risk

— Excavating crews working for the Boone County Surveyor’s Office and land owner Don Geisler were busy Friday afternoon stacking and burning trees and brush removed from Prairie Creek between County Road 100 South and Interstate 65, south of the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds. Surveyor Ken Hedge said the work was part of a project to reduce flooding risk by improving water flow along the stream. A side effect of the brush removal, Hedge said, was to improve the view of the fairgrounds from the interstate.
