Carney wins award

Scott Carney of RadioMom 91.1 FM in Lebanon recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

The award is given to a person who has made a significant contribution to their local high school.

Carney has been broadcasting live play-by-play coverage of Lebanon, Western Boone and Zionsville baseball, basketball and football for more than 25 years. A graduate of Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School, he is a life resident of Boone County. Carney also hosts The Coach’s Corner program, with live interviews of high school coaches and athletes, live from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Saturday from Cowan’s Drug Store in Lebanon.

“I can’t think of a better person to receive this award for the hours that he’s put in to promote high school athletics,” said Chuck Cunningham, general manager of RadioMom.

The award will be presented at the IIAAA’s annual convention March 13, 2012, at the Marriott East Hotel, Indianapolis.
