Zionsville — During Z’GreenFest Sunday, April 21, Shannon Lehnen, left, and Katherine Heiss, center, talk to Nicolas, 7, and Sophie, 11, Haydar and their mother, Rita, about wildflowers found in Zionsville. Lehnen and Heiss, along with Rachael Squire and Emily Williams, all part of Girl Scout Troop No. 1131, created a brochure on the topic for the Zion Nature Center, where Z’GreenFest is held, for their Silver Award. This is the seventh year for Z’GreenFest, which is sponsored by the Friends of Zion Nature Center in celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day. Hundreds of families learned more about their environment at more than two dozen booths offering demonstrations and activities related to plants, animals, conservation and recycling. Children could do activities, such as planting a seed or making something from recyclables, at each booth and earn tickets to exchange for prizes.
