When Zionsville resident Inga Smith was trying to find a career that would allow her to both make a living and spend quality time with her young daughter, one idea that popped up just kept popping ... and popping ...
Inga’s Popcorn opened at 140 S. Main St. in Zionsville Saturday, April 20, and will celebrate its grand opening from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 4. Smith said there will be samples, entertainment and prizes.
“It’s going to be a party,” she said.
“I’m very excited. It’s good to be open.”
Smith makes six flavors of popcorn year round: caramel; caramel pecan; Snickerdoodle, with a cinnamon caramel taste; classic cheddar; white cheddar; and Chicago Mix, which combines the cheesy and caramel flavors. She also has seasonal flavors, such as pumpkin pie spice and chocolate and peanut butter drizzled, during the holidays. She said she’s working on a jalapeño cheddar flavor and a savory one made without milk for people with milk allergies.
“It’s still in the developmental stage,” she said, adding that her current offerings all contain butter and/or cheese.
