— After Zionsville resident Elizabeth Mueller read a book titled “How to create and nurture a nature center,” she became inspired to take action within her own community.
Mueller, also known as Mother Nature, with the goal of bringing the experience of nature within reach, started the Friends of the Zion Nature Center in 2001.
“We are the only nature center in Boone County, and our mission is to teach people to understand and respect nature,” Mueller said. “If you teach children early, then their whole outlook on the Earth will be better. Someone has to take care of it for future generations.”
