— As the players line up to take the field for the first time at home this season on Friday night, Aug. 24, the Zionsville Community High School football team will honor the man that brought football to Zionsville.
During halftime of Friday’s game against McCutcheon High School, ZCHS will officially name the field Orlin Coleman Field.
Coleman said he was shocked when he heard that they would name the field after him.
“I was very much surprised,” he said. “It’s a big thrill to know it’s going to happen. It’s just an absolute thrill. I’m humbled.”
Jim Haines, who was one of the people behind the push to rename the field, said the renaming had been talked about for quite some time.
