One injury in Anson wreck

A three-car accident near Anson slowed traffic for nearly an hour Monday afternoon, June 8, as authorities cleared significant wreckage. Only one driver was seriously injured in the crash at State Road 334 and County Road 650 East.

Whitestown Police Department Officer Kyle Hartman said around 1:30 p.m., the driver of a green Chevrolet Venture, Charles Watson of Zionsville, was traveling west on State Road 334, and had the green light. As Watson drove through the intersection with C.R. 650, Heather Hardin of Zionsville, driving a black Dodge Intrepid, attempted to turn north onto C.R. 650 and collided with Watson’s vehicle.

Watson complained of pain in his collar bone, and medics carefully removed him from his van, placing him on a stretcher. He was transported to a hospital. Officer Hartman was not certain if he suffered a broken collar bone.

When authorities arrived at the scene, Hardin was unconscious, but quickly regained consciousness. She was also taken to the hospital.

Immediately following the collision, Watson’s van was sent skidding into a stationary silver Honda car driven by Aleksandar Tomic of Brownsburg. Tomic was on C.R. 650 waiting to turn west onto S.R. 334.

Officer Hartman said Hardin mistakenly believed she had a green arrow when she turned onto C.R. 650.

Several departments assisted Whitestown Police in responding to the accident, including Whitestown Fire, Zionsville Fire, Zionsville Police Department, and the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
