Froman dies in jail

Convicted murderer James F. “J.J.” Froman of Lebanon, a Pendleton Correctional Facility inmate died early Sunday morning, Nov. 8, after a suspected prescription drug overdose, according to a press release.
Froman, 43, was found in his cell at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. He was unresponsive, and transported immediately by ambulance to Saint John’s Medical Center in Anderson. He was treated at Saint John’s and then transported to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. Wishard physicians pronounced Froman dead at about 3:48 a.m. Sunday.
An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death, the release said. Facility Internal Affairs, Indiana State Police and the Marion County Coroner’s office are investigating the incident.
Froman was sentenced in September 2007 to 95 years for the murder of Adria Heineman.
At the sentencing hearing, Froman said he was sorry for what had happened. He said this incident and the memory of Heineman, then 19, haunt him every night.
“Each night when you go to sleep, you see me as a monster,” Froman said to the victim’s family. “Each night I go to sleep, I see Adria. She was my friend ... I never meant for any of this to happen.”
According to the release, he was anticipated to be released in December 2053.
