30-plus celebrities to participate in Z Bowl fundraiser April 30

By Andrea Cline/Times Sentinel managing editor

— Gordon Hayward, Indycar drivers, Indianapolis Colts football players and other celebrities will help raise money for Z Bowl’s Night Moves event Saturday, April 30.

This is the first ever fundraising event for the group, said Kathy Wood, Z Bowl co-chair.

Wood said the event is an opportunity to raise funds so the group can attract people to Zionsville during the Super Bowl weekend in 2012, which will be held in Indianapolis.

The fundraiser, entitled Night Moves, is an 80s themed celebrity waiter dinner to commemorate the Indianapolis Colts’ notorious overnight move from Baltimore to Indianapolis.

“We thought the 80s theme would be fun and it was a good era,” she said. “I encourage everyone to dress up.”

Wood is familiar with this type of fundraising event, after she hosted a few in Utah for her family’s foundation.

“We had a wonderful time doing it and I thought it would be fun to bring it here and do it here in Zionsville,” she said.

As of Monday, April 18, Wood said she had 33 celebrities sign on to participate. Each table of eight will have one waiter, a celebrity, waiting on each table and those in attendance can get them to do anything for tips, which will be donated to Z Bowl.

“We want patrons to ask the celebrities to do funky stuff such as sing a song,” she said. “The celebrities will not be serving food. They will just be there to entertain the guests.”

There will also be a competition amongst the waiters and whoever wins the most tips at the end of the evening will be crowned king or queen of the waiters, she said.

Along with the ticket price of $100 per person or $750 for a table of eight, there will be a silent auction, a live auction and games including a dunk tank, dancing and a tricycle race.

“People are going to be blown away to see what we do,” Wood said. “It’s going to be a blast!”

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Montgomery Aviation. There are still tickets available, Wood said Monday. To order tickets, send check or money order to: Z Bowl, c/o Night Moves Event, 9716 Autumn Way, Zionsville.
