Creekside Corporate Park at Zionsville may soon have its first tenant — Lids, a hats and sports apparel manufacturer and retailer.
Lids announced Friday morning, Jan. 10, plans to move its corporate headquarters to Zionsville, building a 150,000-square-foot facility on the former Dow property. According to an Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce press release, Lids will invest $21.8 million to construct and equip the facility.
"Lids Sports Group is proud to continue to call Indiana home," said Lids President Ken Kocher.
Kocher said Lids will expand its warehouse and distribution center at its 5349 W. 76th St. location.
"The expanded distribution facilities will serve the U.S. and our other North American operations," he said. "This location provides us with world class logistics, and the expansion provides us an opportunity to grow."
Gov. Mike Pence said it was a great day for Indiana and Zionsville.
"This will give Indiana 750 new, good-paying jobs," he said. "It is exciting to be part of Lids' ongoing success story. This is a credit to the men and women who made Lids one of the most exciting, dynamic success stories."
According to the ICC release, Lids will also "lease more than 600,000 square feet of additional warehouse space in Indianapolis. Hat World currently operates out of 225,000 square feet of leased space in Park 100 and another 285,000 square feet of leased space on 76th street on the northwest side of Indianapolis."
Town Council President Jeff Papa said having Lids as the first tenant in the town-owned corporate park is a huge start for things to come.
"We hope they are one of many to come," he said. "They are a wonderful addition, and we are thrilled they picked us. They will be an outstanding tenant. This really sets the town for everything that comes after. We hope to draw more interest from other, similar companies."
