---- — Old Man Winter has taken his toll on the Zionsville Street and Stormwater Department.
Department Superintendent Lance Lantz said he and his crew have been much busier this winter than prior years.
"We counted 22 snow events this year that we've dealt with," he said. "We had 20 instances of plowing in some degree, whether that's an entire townwide plow or only main lines or for spot drifting; we are well ahead of last year, where we had 18 snow events."
Lantz said the town still has plenty of salt in case another winter storm makes its way through Central Indiana.
"There won't be any extra costs there," he said. "There are other places where we get hit, such as equipment repair. It takes a lot to keep the equipment on the road when we are using it so heavily."
Lantz said he has nine regular employees on call 24 hours per day, along with himself and another staff member, for a total of 11 people to help clear the roadways.
