Whitestown considers church for town hall

The Whitestown Town Council is considering all its options for a new town hall location. The council discussed purchasing Cornerstone Community Church, 6210 S CR 700 E, during its meeting Tuesday night, Feb. 18. Many residents flooded the town hall meeting room, which has an occupancy of 25 people, and overflowed into the maintenance garage, where the meeting was broadcast on closed circuit television. The council previously discussed buying a new town hall on 7 acres the town owns on Main Street near Walker Farms. To build a new town hall, the estimated cost would be near $4.3 million and would take at least 18 months to complete. The church has an asking price of $2.6 million.
