---- — A preliminary design for a new Ford Road bridge over Eagle Creek in Zionsville has been accepted by the Boone County Commissioners. “They are not the construction plans,” Boone County Highway Superintendent Rick Carney said. “They haven’t got the construction plans yet.” The new bridge will be 36 feet wide, with two 12-feet-wide driving lanes and shoulders 3 feet wide. It will include laminated wood railings that meet Federal Highway Administration safety standards. Zionsville Town Councilor Elizabeth Hopper was optimistic about the new design for the bridge. "It's a good plan that going forward will accommodate the transportation needs for the community," she said. "I look forward to getting the project underway. It is a definite need in the community and needs to be addressed. I think the new design will help alleviate the flooding problems and traffic constraints in that area that we are facing."
