---- — After hearing complaints about gunfire in the rural area for several months, the Zionsville Safety Board may expand its role. The board discussed a couple options during its Monday morning, Feb. 24, meeting. Board member Susana Suarez suggested expanding their role to discuss noise issues in addition to safety concerns. Suarez made the suggestions after Board President Steve Mundy proposed creating a firearm discharge board that would act as a third party to facilitate discussions between the two sides of the complaint. "I think the lessons and feedback we got throughout this whole process has resulted in good dialogue," Suarez said. "I remain against creating another committee because I do not believe a board is required when we already have the safety board. The other reason is that we already have 76 appointed positions, and I'm concerned with creating another board." See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
