Zionsville police are looking for suspects involved in three separate break-ins that took place between Tuesday night, Oct. 23, and Wednesday morning, Oct. 24.
ZPD Sgt. Chuck White said at least two people broke in to Village Mattress, Kern Brothers Shoes and Zionsville Nail between the time each business closed and opened.
“It definitely looks like more than one person,” he said. “There was forced entry to the front door of all locations. It was all discovered Wednesday morning; Kern’s was discovered around 6:30 a.m. or 7 a.m. Village Mattress was discovered when the owner came in to open up.”
White said money was taken from Village Mattress and Kern’s, but nothing appeared to be missing from Zionsville Nail.
Bill Kern, owner of Kern Brothers Shoes, said it was the first time in 30 years that someone had broken into the store.
“They only stole cash then too,” he said. “They didn’t take any merchandise either time, though.”
White said the string of burglaries is similar to others that have happened on the north side of Indianapolis, as well as in Carmel and Fishers.
“We are working with those agencies to piece anything together,” he said.
On Monday, Oct. 29, Det. Josh Samuelson said they are still waiting on more video from the business’ surveillance tapes to come out to identify possible suspects.
