---- — One year ago, Zionsville and Whitestown seemed poised for a fight over the eastern portion of Worth Township.

Throughout several negotiations, the two towns reached an amicable agreement with Zionsville scaling back its annexation and Whitestown giving several areas to Zionsville, including property owned by Zionsville Community Schools.

"In terms of negotiations, it started out not very nice with threats of lawsuits, but in the course of negotiations, we came to an agreement on everything," said Zionsville Town Council President Jeff Papa. "We found some other things we can cooperate on, as well, including the stoplight on (County Road) 700 (East). I think it's a good thing that happened because these two towns came together."

Papa said one of the biggest parts of the negotiations was gaining 40 acres of prime, developable land.
