Last year, most of Boone County was wondering how three separate annexations of overlapping pieces of land would work out.
While there was a threat of lawsuits, Zionsville, Lebanon and Whitestown all came together to find a happy medium for the annexation of portions of Worth and Perry Townships.
ANNEXATION PLANS ANNOUNCED
It didn't take Zionsville long to announce plans for annexing the eastern portion of Worth Township, east of County Road 650 East.
The morning after a referendum question failed on the November 2012 ballot, the Zionsville town council held a special meeting to begin the process of annexing Worth Township.
Officials from Whitestown and Worth Township drafted a reorganization plan, which was defeated during the general election by a final tally of 61 percent of the votes (1,120) to 39 percent (716). The defeat of the referendum question opened the door for Zionsville to annex the area.
