Residents don't want to see apartments

While nothing has been officially filed for the former Citgo lot at Main and Sycamore streets, one group of residents is certain there's one thing they don't want to see -- apartments.

Bob Royalty and Gary Angstadt are among a dozen residents who started Zionsville Neighborhood Action Group. Their goal is to keep people informed and up to date on the possible development of the site as well as make sure town officials take their time in considering development on the site.

"We started getting news in the fall that there was some movement on the former Citgo site," Royalty said. "We knew something was brewing for the site."

Buckingham Companies released a statement in late October saying they were interested in pursuing a mixed-use development on the Citgo site and adjoining properties. Buckingham officials have not elaborated further on their plans since that time and did not return phone calls seeking comment as of press time.
