---- — A Jan. 7 public hearing concerning one aspect of a new Ford Road bridge over Eagle Creek on the Boone-Marion county line was canceled by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources because of the threat to public safety posed by a looming winter storm. The hearing will be rescheduled.
The hearing was to been in the Zionsville Town Hall for input on a permit for construction in a floodway, the DNR said in the cancellation notice.
Boone County plans to build a 176 feet, 4 inch bridge, with two 87 feet spans, to replace a deteriorating structure built in 1921 and partially renovated in 1971.
The new bridge design includes moving a section of West 96th Street about 290 feet north; the abandoned section will be seeded and stabilized. New approach roads to the span will be up to 4 feet 6 inches higher than the existing roads.
