The Zionsville Town Council will pay tribute to Mike Latz, the former president of the Redevelopment Commission.
The council will hold a special ceremony during its Monday, June 3, meeting to honor Latz, who passed away after battling cancer. During its meeting Monday morning, May 28, Town Manager Ed Mitro told the council about a resolution honoring Latz that will designate 106th Street between Bennett Parkway and Zionsville Road as “Mike Latz Memorial Way.”
Latz served on the Boone County Economic Development Corporation for eight years and the RDC for more than four years. He was involved in several projects in Zionsville, such as the 106th Street water and sewer project, the FedEx project, the Harris retail and office building projects, the Dow purchase and the trail connection from Michigan Road to Lions Park.
“Mike was deeply involved in the community and its youth, among the programs benefiting from his tireless service were the Indianapolis School of Ballet program, and Zionsville youth football and soccer programs,” the resolution states. “Mike was a devoted husband to his wife Sukie and dad to his two children Emma and Lachlin. Our community lost a great friend and partner when Mike lost his bravely fought battle with cancer on March 29.”
