Witham plans Zionsville project

Zionsville — Witham Health Services has plans for the northeast corner of Michigan Road and 116th Street in Zionsville, the so-called “gateway district.”

Christel DeHaan Investment Limited Partnerships that owns the land has filed to rezone the site, and the plan commission will consider the rezone during its Monday night, June 17, meeting.

According to the filing with the planning department, DeHaan Investment LP wants to rezone 11.9 acres from the Open Land District to two separate parcels: 5.1 acres for Urban Office and 5.8 acres into Urban Neighborhood Business.

“Such rezone would allow for a combination of medical office uses on the easternmost parcel to be zoned B-0 and permitted neighborhood business uses on the westernmost parcel to be zoned B-1,” the filing states.

The retail portion would sit closest to Michigan Road with the medical office facility behind it.

Tammy Rabe, director of marketing and communications for Witham Health Services, said the hospital hopes to put a medical office building on the property.

“Witham has always had an eye toward meeting the needs of the residents throughout the county and beyond,” Rabe said. “As this area continues to grow, we want to ensure we invest in the health of these residents as we have with other communities across the region.”

Rabe did not elaborate on the size of the building, but added that it would offer an “option for various specialties as needed by our patients in that area and as our current providers reach capacity.”
