---- — The town of Whitestown believes they have found their new town manager and didn't have to go very far to find him. The Whitestown town council hopes to finalize a contract with Dax Norton, who served on the Boone County Economic Development Corp. for eight years and was the director of the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs before resigning in late August. "We conducted three interviews, and we felt that one was far and away the best candidate," Councilwoman Julie Whitman said during the council's meeting Tuesday night, Sept. 10. "He has a strong background in economic development and really has his heart in the community." Norton said the reason for his resignation from OCRA was to take this position and be closer to home. "It's good to be back home," he said. "Working for the state was a great opportunity, but it's good to be back home." See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
