Area businesses plan major expansions

Two Zionsville-area businesses with plans for major expansions have asked for financial incentives from the Boone County Redevelopment Commission. Mobi Wireless plans to nearly double its 87-person workforce by next year, topping out at 253 employees by 2015, and invest $2.9 million. Mobi is asking for $70,000 to purchase software. HC1.com also will double its workforce and has asked for $80,000 in incentives. The companies are based at Browning Northwest Technology Park near 96th Street and Zionsville Road. Several steps must be taken before the incentives are awarded, said Bryan Brackemyre, executive director of the Boone County Economic Development Corp., who outlined the request to the Boone County Redevelopment Commission on Friday. “The packages can’t be approved until the lease has been signed,” he said. The requests must also be reviewed by the Boone County Area Plan Commission, the Boone County Commissioners, and again by the RDC. See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
