Zionsville — Although the Zionsville Community Schools teachers’ collective bargaining agreement is in effect through the 2014-15 school year, the compensation aspects of their contract have been under negotiation to make it consistent with Indiana’s new teacher merit-pay law.
In many ways, according to Zionsville Educators Association President Matt Mulholland, it has streamlined negotiations having the focus strictly on implementation of a teacher compensation model that is uniform with the state law. However, at a Tuesday, Sept. 3, ZEA meeting, Mulholland informed members an agreement still has not been reached with administrators.
“While I am not comfortable sharing all of the details of what was discussed, I can share with you that we let our teachers know that, despite five bargaining meetings, we are still in significant disagreement with the administration over the structure of a teacher compensation plan,” Mulholland said.
“If we don’t have a deal reached by early October, we enter mediation.”
