Zionsville plans next step for annexation

Zionsville Times Sentinel

— The Town of Zionsville will make the next step in annexing a portion of Worth Township Monday, Dec. 3, when it will discuss and adopt the fiscal plan for annexation.

Town Manager Ed Mitro told the council during its agenda-setting meeting Monday morning, Nov. 26, the plan, which outlines what entities will provide service to the area and any additional cost or revenues, is the same as the one that was introduced during a special meeting Wednesday, Nov. 7.

“We will need to pass it on (Monday, Dec. 3),” he said. The next steps in the process include sending a notice to all the homeowners and property owners in the area after adoption; placing a public notice in the paper; and a public hearing in February.

During the special meeting, the council introduced an ordinance that would annex all of Worth Township east of County Road 650 East that is not part of Whitestown.

The ordinance was introduced one day after a Whitestown-Worth Township reorganization question on the ballot failed.

One week after Zionsville introduced its ordinance, Whitestown introduced a similar measure and passed the fiscal plan.

Whitestown hopes to annex three different portions of Worth Township.

The first area is the portion of Worth Township west of County Road 775 East, north of County Road 500 South, east of County Road 650 East and south of County Road 200 South.  The second area is south of County Road 200 South, west of County Road 650 East, north of County Road 400 South and east of County Road 400 East. The third area is the remainder of Worth Township south of County Road 700 South, east of County Road 400 East, west of County Road 600 East and north of the Boone County line.
