The clock has started for Zionsville to annex a portion of Worth Township.
The town council unanimously voted Monday night, Dec. 3, to approve the fiscal plan for annexing all of Worth Township east of County Road 650 East that is not part of Whitestown.
The fiscal plan outlines what entities will provide service to the area, any additional cost or revenues and the tax rate on each portion of Zionsville as well as the annexed area.
According to the fiscal plan, the tax rate for the urban area of Zionsville will increase from $.6667 to $.6777; the Eagle Township tax rate will increase from $.2868 to $.2908; the Union Township tax rate will increase from $.3690 to $.3730, and the annexation area tax rate will decrease from $.5479 to $.3025.
Before the council discussed the resolution, Worth Township resident Paul Carpenter-Wilson asked that the council not pursue annexation.
