Zionsville — Officials hope the Economic Development Strategic Plan that was approved in 2012 will provide guidance and a vision for the future of the town.

After more than one year of work, the working group and Chris Hamm, a principal planner with American Structurepoint, posted a first draft of the plan on the town’s website in May.

The plan focused on the 1,000 acres in the southeast quadrant of Zionsville for the study area.

According to the plan, it “is a long-term strategic guide to help the Town of Zionsville manage and facilitate stable and desired economic growth within the defined study area over the next 10 to 15 years.”

The plan recommends several land use changes, which are “simply to provide a tool to assist with future decision making as development and redevelopment begins to occur within the study area. These suggested land uses, however, do not represent a presumptive guarantee of any future zoning approval.”
