Work is beginning on two downtown buildings -- the former Nana Market, 40 E. Cedar St., and the Wessel Building, 260 S. First St.
Both projects are part of the town's façade grant program. The Cedar Street building received grant approval during the winter and demolition has begun on it. The Wessel building received grant approval in March, and owner Ron Wessel is waiting for permits to begin renovation.
Wessel said the renovation will include new siding, a new gable and new windows.
"Right now, there's six huge windows," he said. "We're going to insert two smaller windows with space between them. Then we'll put new doors on the front. The gable that's over the front door right now protrudes out as far as the edge of the overhang; that's going to be pulled back to the roof line, and we'll be adding new signage."
