Humane Society seeks officers and directors

— The Humane Society for Boone County is looking for volunteers who can work in director, officer and assistant positions.

Guy Davis, the humane society president for 2012, said most board members are staying involved, but they decided to look for people interested in all positions.

“We wanted to throw everything out there and recruit the best person in case someone with huge experience came to us,” he said. “We are putting out all positions that are available, and we'll see what happens.”

Davis said a nominating committee, made up of two board members, two membership dues volunteers and Davis, put an ad in the Zionsville Times Sentinel last month to recruit people for several positions ranging from board president to assistant to directors.

“It did generate a few responses from professional grant writers and a career with not-for-profits that wanted paid positions but said they would help anyways,” he said. “It also got some sincere volunteers to help with the animals. We had a couple people that have been long-time volunteers that were looking to move up to board positions.”
