Plan Commission grants Witham waiver

The Zionsville Plan Commission is giving Witham Memorial Hospital a second chance. During its Monday night, Aug. 19, meeting, the commission waived its one-year waiting period to allow Witham to file a new request to rezone the northeast corner of Michigan Road and 116th St. Witham was given an unfavorable recommendation by the commission during its June meeting citing a lack of detail with the project. The town council has tabled the matter indefinitely, effectively killing the project once the 90 day period after the commission's decision expires. The 90 day period will expire Monday, Sept. 16. Kent Frandsen, of Parr Richey Obremsky Frandsen & Patterson, who represents Witham, appeared before the commission to request the waiver. "We have filed a new application because we are under pressure from the owner to get this project going," he said. "We hope you will exercise your discretion to allow this project to move on, and if you decide not to, we hope the filing will be disregarded and the $1,300 we've spent to be refunded." Frandsen said the new project would be different from the original filing by adding three adjacent parcels totaling just more than two acres. "The scope changes from around 11 acres to just more than 13 acres," he said. "We are also relocating the line of delocation between (medical office use and neighborhood business uses)," he said. "We also hope to have more (medical office) than the original filing." See Wednesday's Times Sentinel for the full story.
