Council discusses traffic problems

The Zionsville Town Council is looking at ways to improve traffic flow through the main corridors of town on Main, First, Oak and Sycamore streets. Matt Brown, vice president of A&F Engineering, presented results of a corridor study to the council during its Monday morning, Aug. 28, agenda-setting meeting. The study focused on the intersections of 106th Street and Zionsville Road, Sycamore and Main streets, First and Sycamore streets and First and Oak streets. "We were looking at a.m. and p.m. workday traffic flow," Brown said. "We did a travel time study to see where we are at today and if there are any delays; for the most part, the delays are not horrible." Brown said they then looked at alternatives for each intersection, such as lighted signals and roundabouts, to see which combination would help improve traffic flow.
