Go for the gold

Zionsville Community High School Sophomore Jimmy Halvorsen and the rest of the Marching Eagles direct their music to the top of the stands during district performance Saturday, Sept. 29, in Plainfield.

The gold rating advances the Marching Eagles on to regionals. Prior to regionals, the marching band will participate in an invitational at Center Grove High School Oct. 6, with a performance time of 6:06 p.m.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, they will travel to Chesterton High School for regionals, competing against other Class B bands for a spot in the semi-state. The Marching Eagles will take the field at 7:27 p.m. that evening. Ultimately, the top 10 Indiana High School Bands in each of four classes, based on school size, will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium for state finals Nov. 3. The Marching Eagles band is under the direction of Thomas Landrum and has about 140 members. Its show this year is “The River.”
