— Ind. 32 ramp at 65 to reopen Friday

The Ind. 32 ramp entering Interstate 65 north is scheduled to reopen on Friday, Oct. 5.

It was closed Thursday, Sept. 26, to allow the contractor to make safety improvements. The acceleration lane onto the interstate is being lengthened, and the paving is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Oct. 3, and Thursday, Oct. 4,  weather permitting.

The project on I-65 will add an additional lane in each direction and reconstruct the existing lanes of I-65 from six tenths of a mile north of Ind. 32 to one half mile south of County Road 100 East. This project also includes rebuilding the Ind. 39 bridge over I-65 and the I-65 bridge over Prairie Creek and rehabilitating the bridge over Lafayette Avenue.

The project is scheduled to be completed in July.

 

County chamber seeks nominations for business awards

The Boone County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for Business Person of the Year and for Best New Business.

The Business Person of the Year is awarded to an individual in recognition for their outstanding service and commitment to Boone County.

The individual must own or be an employee of a member organization of the Boone County Chamber of Commerce. This individual should demonstrate integrity and business leadership within the community.

The Best New Business will be awarded to a new business in Boone County. The business must be new to the community within the last two years. The business should demonstrate integrity and leadership in the community as well as contribute to the economic vitality of Boone County.

The award will be presented at the Annual Civic Banquet on Nov. 12.

Nomination forms are available on the chamber’s website, www.boonechamber.org, or by calling 765-482-1320 to have a form mailed, faxed or emailed.

The form should be completed and returned to the chamber office no later than Friday, Oct. 19, or by mail to: Boone County Chamber of Commerce, 221 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.

 

Witham seeks award

nominations

Witham Health Services is looking for nominations for the annual Healthcare Professional of the Year award.

The Healthcare Professional of the Year award is designed to highlight the best in Boone County. The individual can work in any aspect of the healthcare industry, including, but not limited to, registered nurse, certified nursing assistant, physician, emergency medical technician, paramedic, imaging technician, pharmacist, social worker, program director, dietary and housekeeping staff. The nominee must demonstrate proficiency in patient care, as well as an attitude of professionalism that commands respect from his or her affiliation, coworkers, patients and the community he/she serves.

The purpose of this award is to provide recognition for those contributions which are above and beyond the normal day to day work activities and which make a lasting impression or impact on the lives of patients and their families.

Contributions to healthcare in Boone County through dedication, service and leadership to the community through promotion of healthy living, public health education and volunteer activities are all considered in the selection of the award recipient.

The award will be presented Monday, Nov. 12, during the Boone County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Civic Banquet.

Nomination forms are available from the Witham administration department or by calling 765-485-8100 to have one mailed, faxed or emailed. The form should be completed and returned to Administration, Attn: Tammy Rabe, no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
