The Zionsville Kiwanis Club has turned in its charter after serving the community since 1990.
The club will keep between five and 10 members to serve as a Zionsville Satellite of the Kiwanis Club of Northwest Indianapolis to continue to support the Zionsville Community High School Key Club, which Kiwanis sponsors.
“Change is never easy,” Kiwanis Club President Cheryl Grimme said in a press release, “and the decision to disband the Kiwanis Club of Zionsville was extremely difficult but supported by the majority of our membership. We have been honored to serve the Zionsville community for 22 years and would like to thank all who supported our many projects. That support enabled us to fulfill the Kiwanis mission of serving the children.”
Tom Castelli, a member of the club, said the group agonized over the decision to turn in its charter.
