Chamber of commerce makes moving plans

Visitors and residents alike many times have trouble finding the small log cabin-like building at 135 S. Elm St. that houses the Greater Zionsville Chamber of Commerce.

That’s why the chamber is asking $15,000 from the town council to help find new office space.

Julie Johns Cole, executive director of the chamber, said they have simply outgrown its current space and needs a new location.

“Right now the building is approximately 386 square feet,” she said. “That is hardly large enough for two full time staff members, events that we host and meetings that we host.”

Cole said one of the biggest goals of the move is to find a location that’s more visible and accessible.

“We are often the first stop for people coming into town looking for a specific business or restaurant,” she said. “We hope to find a prominent place because we want to be the first place people see.”
