Zionsville residents wary of Wal-Mart’s new plans

The impact of a new Wal-Mart would have on Zionsville has been the talk of the town.

John Tousley, a member of the Redevelopment Commission and Zionsville Village Residents’ Association said he has heard people on both sides of the proposed project.

“There seems to me to be no consensus one way or another,” he said. “I haven’t seen the petitions like we did the first time (Wal-Mart proposed a building). I know there are some that are very against it, and others that are for it.”

Tousley said he is ambivalent to the plans.

“I see arguments both ways,” he said. “If it weren’t for the economy and the financial straits our school system and government finds itself in, it wouldn’t be hard for me; I’d just say ‘Why do we need that?’. But, I can’t ignore those circumstances.”
