The town council’s action to dedicate 106th Street as Mike Latz Memorial Way was only fitting for the man who brought several projects to the area.
Mike Latz served on the redevelopment commission for more than four years before passing away to cancer in March. The council adopted a resolution honoring Latz and dedicating the street during its Monday night, June 3, meeting.
“If you look at any major project in town, it was either Mike’s idea or he had a heavy hand in it,” Council President Jeff Papa said. “Between the FedEx project, the Dow purchase, the Harris projects, Mike’s impact is going to be felt for decades to come.”
Friends and family of Latz attended the meeting to show their gratitude.
“It means a lot to us, as a family, to have this permanent dedication of how important Mike’s profession, community and commitment was to this town,” said sister Lisa Condes. “We are so grateful for this honor.”
