Boone County Chamber awards

Zionsville — Boone County was hailed as a great place to live, work and raise a family Monday night, Nov. 12, at the 2012 Boone County Chamber of Commerce’s annual civic banquet at Palomino Ballroom, and 13 people were recognized as the foundation of that excellence.

Some were shocked beyond words at the announcement of their names as award winners. Many were honored by standing ovations.

Judy Psikula fit both of those categories after she was named the health care professional of the year by Witham President and CEO, Ray Ingham.

Ingham thanked Psikula for her vision and service in her past 15 years as a member on Witham’s board of directors, which made Witham the destination hospital it is today.

Ingham also presented the emergency provider of the year award to Boone County Dispatcher Vanessa Moistner for her efforts in aiding a panicked man to deliver his baby late one night. Moistner took a call a little past 3 a.m. on July 28.

“She took a call few dispatchers ever receive,” Ingham said. “And her calming demeanor and assistance helped turn a chaotic situation into an act of service.”

Three teachers were named teachers of the year for their respective school corporations — Lebanon’s Rachel Becker, Western Boone’s Krista Marconett, and Zionsville’s Cindy King. Tami Richardson of the State Bank of Lizton presented those awards.
