---- — Zionsville residents soon may be able to get a taste of Italy while shopping and dining on the Brick Street.

The plan commission approved a development plan Wednesday night, Jan. 22, for a gelato shop in the former Nana's Flower Shop, 305 S. Main St.

"When Elizabeth and John Demaree (the owners of the property) were looking at the property they thought about removing the structure and putting in a new facility," said attorney Mike Andreoli, who represents the Demarees. "Elizabeth is really big into preservation and wants to see the building stay."

Andreoli said there will be some work done to the interior and exterior of the building.

"They are wanting to add some porches to wrap around the structure," he said. "The original thought was to take the structure down and build a new building, but they really wanted to keep that building and enhance and improve it rather than tear it down."
