Work begins to prepare for Lids

Just because Lids announced plans to move to Creekside Corporate Park doesn't mean work is done for the Zionsville Redevelopment Commission.

The work is just beginning when talking about the master plan for the north side of the property -- along 106th Street between Zionsville Road and Bennett Parkway -- being prepared by Rundell Ernstberger and Associates.

Commissioner Brad Johnson gave a brief update to the commission during its Monday night, Jan. 27, meeting.

"They have a lot of information, and they are starting to lay that on top of each other," he said. "They are looking at limitations of the land and also opportunities."

Johnson said they are good at identifying features of the land and how those features may work with development.

"Since they are landscape architects, they took a more ecologically sensitive perspective," he said. "On a scale of 1 to 10, they were probably around a nine, and we want to be more in the middle. We want to preserve the most sensitive spots, but we are wanting to move away from that approach particularly the closer you get to Bennett (Parkway)."
